January 1st 2002 until December 2004, I served with the Marine Operations Team, based out of the Mercy Ship International Office in Lindale Texas.

The Vision of Marine Operations is to be known as a group of caring, Christian professionals, leading the field in ship management.

The Mission of Marine Operations is to enable Mercy Ships to fulfill its mission by providing the fleet with management, technical expertise, support and training; striving to maintain the highest professional standards to the glory of God

The Objective of the Marine Operations Department are:
-to oversee the operation and status of the Company's Safety Management System,
-coordinate the Training Program on board the vessels and ashore as it relates to the operation of the vessel,
-to liaison with Flag State authorities and Classification Societies,
-to ensure the planned maintenance system is being maintained on the vessels,
-to arrange for dry-docking and other major repairs
-to keep up to date on new legislation which affects the operation of the fleet,
-plan and implement large scale modifications/changes on the vessels,
-recruit technical staff for existing and future vessels
-assess potential new additions to the fleet and report to the appropriate Board of Directors,
-introduce the work of Mercy Ships to the marine industry wherever possible.

As you can see, there is a lot of things that go on behind the scenes to make the ministry happen.  I am excited to be serving with a great group of professional and look forward to my time with them.
