CARIBBEAN MERCY UPDATE
updated 06-01-98

Portland is a great city, (if you are a duck),  Coming from the sunshine state, I have never seen so much rain in all my life.  It has rained every day now for three weeks,  today the sun came out and we could see Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens.

Well we made it through the PR phase of our U.S. tour.  One more week of public tours and not to mention the Rose Festival is going on here this week, over 70,000 people will be passing by the ship a day.  This is the city of Roses and once a year they celebrate it with a big fair type event, carnival rides, food booths, live bands, parades,  and much, much, more.  This stretches on for about 2 miles, and it is happening right where we are docked.   Portland was good to us during the tour and all the functions went off very well.  Check out the picture section of this web page as I have been busy updating it with the most current photos I have.

The DTS id in their 10th week, they will be driving to San Diego and flying to Nicaragua, the DTS will split up in to two groups and half of them will go to El Salvador.  This is where the ship will go on its next out reach.

Well it has been talked about, but know it is confirmed, We are going to go to South Korea for a PR tour next summer, then on to North Korea for an outreach, a company in Seattle will donate us an entire cargo hold full of TB medications to take to North Korea.  We will stop at Victoria Canada, Alaska, Russia, and North Korea all on the way to South Korea.  We plan to visit % cities in South Korea, then do an outreach in North Korea.  Then on the way home we will stop in Midway Islands, Hawaii, and then San Diego.  God Definitely has a lot in store for us over the next two years!!

God Bless
Paul Tonetti
