What is a Discipleship Training School?
"To know God and Make him known".
The Discipleship Training School is an intensive training program beginning with a twelve
week lecture/ teaching phase, followed by an eight week field assignment. The DTS is
designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivating a living
relationship with God and identifying their unique individual gifts and callings. Cross-cultural
exposure and global awareness are especially emphasized throughout the course,
preparing the students for their field assignments in
developing nations.
Each Student graduates with a Certificate of Completion giving access to
nearly 400 YWAM
ministry locations around the world and a Certificate from the University of the Nations with
24 credits towards a university degree. Many stay on and serve with Mercy Ships as short
or long term mission workers.
Can I do a DTS?
Anybody between the ages of 18 and 35 with a heart dedicated to searching after God is
eligible. Mercy Ships Discipleship Training Schools start twice
each year.

DTS is about Christian Character, but it's more than theory. It's a journey into the
heart of God; a journey of discovery where God's ways become real and vital in a
student's daily life. The emphasis is not so much on knowledge gained, as on
principles applied; not on information but transformation; not on heads filled with
facts but hearts filled with faith. If you are looking for the reality of God then this
is for you. I did it!
